about

Welcome to the fifth collection of tapes from the International Electronic Music Association, which was a group of idealists who wanted to change the world of music, one synthesizer at a time. There are some familiar names on this compilation, and a few new names, but as always, it was a blast to have received all these submissions and to assemble them onto a 60 minute cassette for world-wide distribution.

Once again, each of these tapes received a hand-drawn cover, and this was no exception. Eventually, these covers were copied, but there are some original tapes out there that got special attention. There were so many of these tapes sold, that surely there are some survivors, but these digital copies serve to remind some and expose others to the independent electronic music that was so popular in the underground movement during the early 1980s.

From all the contributors, and from Anvil Creations Studio, we hope that you enjoy this presentation that was taken from one of the actual cassette copies recorded onto Maxell tape. Part two (Floating) from track 5 was truncated because of a shortened tape from the manufacturer.

This release is dedicated to the memory of Lauri Paisley, who, from all reports, is no longer with us. "Lauri was a close friend, a determined colleague, and a warm-hearted person who is surely missed by all who had the pleasure of sharing her acquaintance." - Ken Moore / ACS
