about

With the same intentions that the I.E.M.A. tapes were brought here, Anvil Creations is pleased to bring the music of Lauri Paisley to a more public audience. Her tapes are not widely available, and perhaps even sought out by collectors of the 1980 cassette culture. These recordings were copied directly from the tapes that Lauri traded with Ken in the early 1980s.

This tape is number six in a series of six cassette releases that she did of her original music. Lauri gave up recording and playing music in the early 1990s, and having passed away in 2012 from cancer, she was never aware of any interest in her music. She did, however, make one last attempt at getting more recognition by releasing an LP, "The Fire of Dreams" in 1989, which can be seen on Discogs. She also collaborated with Don Slepian as Synarios, some of which was released on the American Cassette Culture box set from VOD in 2015.

At the time of this release, ACS was made aware of two YouTube videos covering SKYWORDS side one and side two, posted by Laurie Stier, three years ago. More information about Lauri can be found at Ultravillage.com.

Recently having celebrated 40 years of recording Sound as Music, Ken has been building up a collection of albums on the Moore/Myers site, both as retro-release and as new recordings. Here, as Anvil Creations, we are offering "name your own price" albums. ... more
