about

In the mid-seventies, musicians were trying out all kinds of things. Just after the recording of Elixir (with Larry Jeter), and before Our Own Universe (with Stuart Rosenzweig), Ken Moore did another project with Mark Chance and Mike Prezioso. They called it Magnificat. As a threesome, they recorded a series of progressive experimental tracks in the early basement studio of Anvil Creations.

Ken was very excited about the [Prez] tapes, but because of the switch noise interruptions, these tapes were never released as an album. On a five year anniversary tape titled "The First Transfinite Infinity", two of the tracks were presented as "Magnificat" and "Red Ruby Rush". There doesn't appear to be a stereo master of this or other anthology albums from the 1980s period, but some of the 1/4 inch tapes were transferred to digital format [in the late 1990s], and these are included here.

It may sound like some of this set was pre-rehearsed, but everything on these recordings were done spontaneously; off the cuff, if you will. Mark Chance, now deceased, played some of his best bass work, and Mike Prezioso did an outstanding job keeping the music flowing. Ken did some editing, and reverse tape effects here and there, but for the most part, these are all live performance by a trio of young musicians. After years of being shelved, they are now available for interested ears.

So, in answer to the question, "Is It Time Yet?"...........yes........ here it is. The Prez Tapes.
